Ready, Onset, Go!

After sailing through the night and taking shifts, we arrive at the entrance to the Cape Cod canal after dawn and are ready to make breakfast when we find out we have run out of propane! Not too big of a deal as I have another tank that I recently re-certified and filled in Boston. It’s difficult to get to the propane tank while the transom is up so we decide to can wait for hot food and beverages until we arrive in Onset.

A few hours later we turn into Onset which is the closest harbor on the other end of the canal and set anchor. I hook up the new tank, but we don’t seem to be getting any pressure. So I assume when I re-certified it they didn’t fill it up as intended. Henri and I take both tanks to shore, grab an uber and go to the nearest propane station. Low and behold, one of the tanks is full! We go ahead and fill up the other tank, head back and grab pizza to bring to the boat for lunch. And I figure out how to hook up the propane correctly! Woo hoo!

After work we decide to make a little more progress south and head for Cuttyhunk. We arrive around 9:30 pm and are looking to see if there are mooring balls available. We can barely see a row of objects floating in the water. We run up with a boat hook and discover that they aren’t mooring balls but planks of wood marking where the mooring balls should be. We anchor and get a “nap” since we are planning on leaving in the wee hours for Block Island where we need to get fuel and work another day.

The motor is causing concentric waves in my matcha!
